How do Prept and Huntr compare, feature by feature?

Huntr is a job tracker first, with resume tools and a Chrome extension built around it. Prept starts where the tracker stops: it debriefs real interviews after the call and writes resumes only from facts you confirmed. The table uses the same 11 rows as every Prept comparison, with Huntr's column from its own site on October 24, 2026.

Huntr's column draws on its pricing page and its homepage feature list. Prept's column comes from Prept's pricing page. Both were read on October 24, 2026. Plans change often, so check both pages again before you pay.

What does Huntr cost compared with Prept?

Huntr Pro costs $40 a month, $90 every 3 months or $160 every 6 months, according to its pricing page on October 24, 2026. Prept's Search plan costs $29 a month or $69 a quarter. So a month of Prept is $11 cheaper, and a quarter is $21 cheaper than Huntr's quarterly plan.

Huntr's longer plans bring the monthly cost down. The quarterly plan works out to $30 a month and the six-month plan to $26.66 a month, by Huntr's own figures. If you expect a long search and mostly need the tracker and tailoring, the six-month plan is the cheapest way to run Huntr Pro.

The trials differ. Huntr's FAQ says "There is no free trial," and points you to the free plan's small number of AI credits instead. Prept's Search plan starts with 7 free days, which need a card, and nothing is charged until day 8.

Refunds differ too. Prept refunds in full within 14 days if you haven't used the paid features. Huntr's refund policy weighs your usage, says refunds "will not be processed after 14 days from the last invoice," and warns that heavy use may rule a refund out.

What does Huntr do well?

Huntr is good at keeping a large search organized. Its free plan tracks up to 100 jobs, and its Chrome extension saves a posting's details in one click and autofills application forms. Each job card holds notes, dates, tasks, salary and contacts, so you can see where every application stands without a spreadsheet.

The homepage describes autofill that "works on 1000s of websites" and a contact tracker for recruiters and hiring managers. It says the Chrome extension has "over 1.1k reviews and a 4.9 star rating." Those are Huntr's own figures, and this page didn't check them.

Huntr's tailoring is also useful. It pulls keywords, responsibilities and qualifications out of each posting and scores how well your resume covers them. If your problem is getting interviews in the first place, and you send many applications a week, Huntr is built for that, and Prept has no tracker to match it.

How is Huntr's AI writing different from Prept's fact checking?

Huntr's AI writes new resume text for you: summaries, skill suggestions, cover letters and achievement bullets, unlimited on Pro. Prept rewrites only from facts you confirmed and checks each draft for a figure you never gave. The difference shows up when an AI tool suggests a number you can't back up in an interview.

Huntr's homepage describes a "Resume Achievement Generator" that will "Generate well written, quantifiable resume achievements to match your experience." That's helpful when you know your numbers. When you don't, a generated figure is a risk, because an interviewer may ask how you measured it.

Prept takes the other route. If you can't confirm a number, the line is left off rather than invented. The reasons AI tools add figures are covered in why AI resume tools invent numbers. Prept also has no cover letters, so if you want those written for you, Huntr covers it.

What happens after an application becomes an interview?

On Huntr, you drag the job card into the interview column and plan your schedule from there. Its homepage describes managing "all your interview times in one place." That's where Huntr's part ends. Prept picks up after each round, so the two tools meet at the interview column.

Prept transcribes an interview you recorded with consent and writes a debrief that quotes the moment you lost the room. It works only after the call, never during it, and it offers no mock interviews. How to ask for that recording is covered in how to ask to record your interview.

If you'd rather review a round without any tool, the free interview debrief template gives you the same questions on one page. Fill it in the evening after the interview, while you still remember what was asked.

How do you cancel Huntr Pro?

Huntr says cancelling is self-serve. Open the settings icon at the bottom left of the site, go to Personal Account Settings, then Plan & Usage, and cancel there. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and then the account drops to the free plan. Your data stays.

Huntr's pricing FAQ says "You DO NOT need to contact support to cancel your subscription." It also says you lose Pro features such as saving more than 100 jobs and generating AI content once the plan ends. Prept cancels in Settings, and access runs to the end of the period you paid for.

Which one should you pick?

Pick Huntr if your problem is volume: many applications, many postings to save, and forms to fill. Pick Prept if your applications already turn into interviews and you keep losing them, or if you want every resume line tied to a fact you can defend. Some job seekers will use both.

Huntr isn't the only tracker. Prept vs Teal covers a tracker with a free unlimited plan, and Prept vs Jobright covers a tool that finds and ranks jobs for you. For resume scoring against a posting, see Prept vs Jobscan.

You can try both free. Huntr's free plan gives you the tracker and 2 tailored resumes, and Prept's free tier gives you one interview hour debriefed with no card. Start Prept free and compare the two on your own next application.
