How do Prept and Teal compare, feature by feature?

Teal is a resume builder and job tracker with AI writing tools and AI interview practice. Prept writes each resume only from facts you confirmed and debriefs real interviews after the call. The table uses the same 11 rows as every Prept comparison, with Teal's column taken from its own site on October 24, 2026.

Teal's column draws on its pricing page, its job tracker page, its tools hub and its AI Interview Practice page. Prept's column comes from Prept's pricing page. Both were read on October 24, 2026, and plans change, so check again before you pay.

What does Teal cost compared with Prept?

Teal's pricing page, checked October 24, 2026, sells Teal+ at $13 every 7 days, $29 every 30 days or $79 every 90 days. Prept's Search plan is $29 a month or $69 a quarter. So a month costs the same on both, and a quarter costs $10 less on Prept.

The weekly price is the one to watch. Teal advertises "$13 per week" at the top of its page, and that's the right buy for a one-week sprint. Over a month, four weekly payments come to $52, so if your search runs longer, the 30-day or 90-day option is the cheaper way to pay for Teal+.

The free plans work differently. Teal's Free Forever plan has no time limit and says "No credit card required to start." It includes unlimited resumes and job tracking, 10 templates and a small AI allowance: 10 bullet credits, 2 summary credits and 2 cover letter credits. Prept's free tier covers one of everything with no card: a full resume review, one posting checked, one application tailored and one interview hour debriefed.

Prept's paid plan starts with 7 free days, and that needs a card, with nothing charged until day 8. Prept refunds in full within 14 days if you haven't used the paid features. Teal's FAQ says refund requests "will only be considered if they are submitted within your plan's eligibility timeframe," and points to its help center for the details of each plan.

What does Teal do well?

Teal is strongest at organizing a search with many applications. Its job tracker is free and unlimited, and its Chrome extension saves postings from over 40 job boards, by Teal's count. Each saved job can hold notes, contacts, a checklist and email templates, so you can see your whole pipeline in one view.

Teal's job tracker page calls it a "Job Search CRM" and offers 40+ email templates for follow-ups at each stage. Its homepage says the product is "Loved by over 4 million members." That's Teal's own figure, and this page didn't verify it.

The free plan is generous for resume building too. You can make as many resume versions as you like, one per job, and download them for free. If your main problem is keeping dozens of applications straight, Teal's free plan may be all you need, and Prept has nothing like it.

How is Teal's AI writer different from Prept's fact checking?

Teal's AI writes new resume text for you: bullets, summaries and cover letters, with unlimited credits on Teal+. Prept rewrites only from facts you have confirmed, and it checks every draft for a figure you never gave or a verb bigger than yours. The difference shows up when the AI suggests a number.

Teal's resume builder page says its "AI resume writer is trained to optimize sentence structure, use strong action verbs, and emphasize accomplishments over mere responsibilities." That's useful when you're staring at a blank page. The risk is the usual one with AI writing: a confident bullet can carry a claim you can't back up in an interview.

Teal's own guidance points the same way. Its LinkedIn import page tells you to "Keep every statement accurate" and warns "do not add qualifications you do not have." That advice is good, and it leaves the checking to you.

Prept does the checking in the product. Your resume is read into facts, each with the sentence it came from, and nothing counts until you confirm it. When a posting asks for something no fact proves, it's named as a gap and left off. Why AI tools add figures in the first place is covered in why AI resume tools invent numbers.

Which is better for tracking job applications?

Teal is better for tracking, and it isn't close. Teal gives you a free, unlimited tracker with job stages, notes, contacts and a Chrome extension. Prept has no standalone tracker: each application keeps its tailored resume and its interview rounds, and that's all. If tracking is the job you need done, use Teal.

Some people use both. Teal holds the pipeline of every job you've saved, and Prept holds the few applications that reached an interview, with the resume you sent and the debrief from each round. If you're weighing trackers, the Prept vs Huntr comparison covers a tool that is tracker-first by design.

What happens after the interview with each tool?

Teal's interview feature is practice: AI mock interviews with video, live transcripts and feedback on pace and response length. Prept works on the real round. You record it with everyone's consent, and Prept transcribes it and writes a debrief that quotes the moment you lost the room and gives you words to say instead.

Teal's AI Interview Practice page offers "unlimited AI interview sessions on Teal+," with formats for screening calls, technical rounds and culture-fit conversations. Practice like that helps before the call. It can't tell you what happened in the room with a real interviewer, because that conversation never reached the tool.

Prept asks you to confirm that everyone on the call knows they're being recorded, every time, and the audio is deleted once the transcript is written. If you'd rather work from memory, the free 10-minute debrief template needs no tool at all. Prept's free tier includes one interview hour with no card, so you can debrief your next recorded round for free.

Should you use Teal, Prept or both?

Pick Teal if you apply to many jobs and want a free tracker, a Chrome extension and unlimited resume versions in one place. Pick Prept if you're getting interviews and losing them, or if you need every number on your resume to hold up when an interviewer asks about it. Both have free plans, so you can test each.

Prept is a narrow tool by design. It has no cover letters, no job board, no Chrome extension and no mock interviews. Teal covers more of the application side, and its weekly plan suits a short burst of applying.
