Resume review and tailoring

Aimed at the job. Every number still yours.

Prept gives your resume an honest review, fixes what your own words can fix, and turns it into facts you confirm. Then for every posting it writes a resume aimed at that job, from those facts and nothing else, built for the six seconds a recruiter gives it.

  • No number you didn’t give
  • Never a bigger verb than yours
  • PDF and Word, checked before you get them
01 · The review

An honest review in about seven seconds. Every word of it quotes you.

Upload your resume and two readings run side by side: one pulls out every fact with the sentence it came from, the other judges what holds the resume back. Any criticism that can’t be found word for word in your resume is dropped before you see it.

  • A two-sentence verdict: what this resume is, and what costs it most
  • Strengths and weaknesses, the most costly first, each with a rewrite
  • Claims with nothing measurable behind them, and the question that fixes each
  • What a reader in your field expects to see and can’t find

A strong operator resume for payments product roles. What holds it back: three outcomes with no number behind them.

Pass. 70 is the line, and a critical problem fails it outright.

    02 · The fixes

Fixes that make you clearer, never bigger.

Only what your own words can fix is rewritten. Every proposed change is checked before you see it: a figure added or dropped sends it back, and so does a verb that climbs the ladder. You approve each one as a before and after, and declining keeps your line exactly as it was.

Climbs from helping to owning. Supported never becomes led.

    03 · Your facts

Type the numbers only you know. Then decide what’s true.

Where a line needs a figure your resume doesn’t have, it comes back with a blank, never a guess. And nothing counts as a fact until you confirm it. Retract one and it is never suggested again. Lock one and its value can be reworded around, never changed. Try both.

    04 · The posting

It reads the posting the way the search does.

Screening software matches plain text, so Prept counts the terms a posting repeats. Each one a fact of yours proves goes on the page in the posting’s own spelling. One nothing proves is named as a gap and left off rather than invented.

    Senior Product Manager, Payments
Fieldstone · Full time · Remote

You will own how a merchant gets from sign-up to their first payment, and the team that builds it. You’ll set the payments roadmap, run pricing experiments across markets and partner with engineering on merchant onboarding. You’re comfortable pulling your own numbers with SQL and working with stakeholders across risk and finance.

    05 · The page

Your whole career, planned onto the page before a word is written.

The length of your career sets the page budget: one page under ten years, two from there. Then each job gets its share, the newest the most, the oldest a line at most, so the page is full of you and nothing else.

    Target for 2 pages: 750 to 1,050

A resume shorter than your own is a worse resume. So it starts from your whole career and trims to fit, never the other way round.

    06 · The writing

Written for six seconds, and true in every one of them.

The headline opens with a title you have actually held, never the posting’s if it is more senior, followed by the one thing this posting most wants. Every bullet has the same shape, and every one cites the fact it came from.

    HeadlineSample
The posting’s title: Head of Payments Product

Head of Payments Product | Payments strategy

Sent back. You have never held this title.

Senior Product Manager | Merchant onboarding and payments

Kept. A title you held, then what this posting wants most.

    One bulletSample

Rebuilt merchant onboarding end to end one form at a time, cutting time to first payment from 6 days to 2.5.

    • Fill the page with more bullets, never longer ones
    • One fact per bullet, and a value you locked kept exactly
    • The posting’s word for a skill your fact proves, never added on top
    • No character adjectives in the summary, and no line that repeats a bullet
    07 · The checks

Then every line is checked against your record, and fixed where it fails.

A bullet must belong to the job where it happened, cite a fact you confirmed and carry no number that fact doesn’t. Some fixes need no judgement at all, so code makes them. And a line that still says more than its fact after every repair is replaced with your own sentence.

The PDF and the Word file come from one document, so they can never differ. Before either is sent, it is read back the way screening software will read it.

    What people ask about it.

Will Prept add numbers or experience I don’t have?

No. A tailored resume is written only from facts you confirmed, and every line cites the fact it came from. A number that isn’t in its fact is caught before you see the draft, and the finished PDF is read back and refused if it carries a number your facts don’t.

What does the ATS score check?

It reads the file you uploaded the way screening software does: headings it can find, an email address in the body, a single column, standard fonts and selectable text. The score is out of 100, 70 is a pass, and a critical problem fails it outright, because a resume software cannot read reaches nobody.

What if my resume has no numbers?

That is who the review helps most. A line that needs a figure is shown with a blank in it, you type the figure only you know, and the line takes it. Nothing is estimated for you.

How long will my tailored resume be?

One page if your career runs under 10 years, two if it runs longer. It starts from your whole career and trims to fit, so the newest job gets the most room and older jobs a line or two.

Does it stuff my resume with keywords?

No. It counts the terms the posting repeats and uses each one, in the posting’s own spelling, only where one of your facts proves it. A term nothing proves is listed as a gap for you to see, and left off the resume.

What do I download, and what does it cost?

A PDF and a Word file built from one document, so the two never differ, in Letter or A4 for where the job is. The free plan reviews your resume in full and tailors one application. Search, at $29 a month, tailors 40 a month, and writing the same application again costs nothing.

Send a resume you can defend in every round.

Every number on it is one you gave, every verb one you earned, and every line one you can talk about when the interviewer asks.
