Job match

Know where you stand before you apply.

Paste a link to any job. Prept reads the posting, then checks each requirement against the facts you confirmed and tells you, line by line, what you can prove, what you can prove in part, and what you can’t. A score out of 10 that would rather be true than kind.

  • Every mark cites your facts

01 · Getting the posting

Paste a link. It finds the cleanest copy of the posting.

Three ways, cleanest first: the job board’s own feed, then the structured data most boards publish for search engines, and only then the page text, which drags menus and footers in with it. When a board blocks the request, or hands back a sign-in page instead of a job, you are told plainly and asked to paste the text.

  • LinkedIn, Greenhouse and Lever read from their own feeds
  • A sign-in page is caught, never checked as if it were the job
  • A page that loads empty is marked thin, not guessed at

02 · Reading the posting

Read once, quoted where it matters, and never filled in.

The posting is read into fields in its own words, and that one reading serves the fit check, the tailored resume and your interview prep. Only one field is allowed to interpret: what the role actually rewards. Point at a field to see where it came from.

Senior Product Manager, Payments
Fieldstone · Toronto, ON

You will own how a merchant gets from sign-up to their first payment, and the team that builds it. We measure this role by how many merchants take a first payment in their first week.

You have shipped payments products, owned merchant onboarding, and you pull your own numbers with SQL. Pricing experiments and work with risk teams are a plus.

We work hybrid, three days a week in our Toronto office. The base salary for this role is CA$165,000 to CA$190,000. We can’t sponsor work permits for this role.

You’ll also own risk tooling, growth experiments and partner integrations.

A city isn’t a work mode.

“Toronto, ON” in the header says where the company is. Work mode is “not stated” until the posting says hybrid, remote or on-site.

No figure, no salary.

A salary is shown only when the posting gives a figure or a range. Never an estimate, never a market rate.

Their words, trimmed.

Must-haves and nice-to-haves keep the posting’s own wording, up to twelve of each, so nothing is softened on the way in.

03 · The score

A score out of 10 with no flattery in it.

Every number on the scale means something concrete, and a 9 is rare on purpose. The score settles where the evidence puts it.

  • 7 to 8.5Worth applyingMost requirements strongly evidenced, one or two partial.
  • 9 to 10Strong fitEverything evidenced, the field matches, a clean step forward. Rare.

A true 6 is more useful than a flattering 8.

04 · What counts as proof

Close isn’t proof. A fact that shows the work is.

Each requirement cites the facts that prove it, or it is missing. Similar or nearby doesn’t count, and partial means a fact shows part of the work itself. Watch one requirement turn candidates away.

When it isn’t sureSample

A fit check that leans toward a gap is safer than one that leans toward credit.

✓Experience with card networkscites: nothingMarked as met, with no fact behind it. Now missing.
◐Fraud model tuningcites: a fact you retractedA retracted fact is never evidence. Now missing.

Doubtful marks always move toward missing. A certification is met only by that certification, and a degree only by that degree.

05 · I can evidence this

Missing only because you never wrote it down? Add it.

Every row that isn’t fully evidenced has a button. Say what you did in your own words, add a figure if you have one, and pick the employer where it happened. It is saved as your fact, unrewritten, so the next posting that asks finds it too. Then re-check once. Try it.

06 · Is this a growth move?

Not just whether you fit. Whether you should want it.

    What people ask about it.

How does Prept score my fit for a job?

It works through the posting’s requirements in order and marks each one evidenced, partial or missing, citing the facts you confirmed that prove it. The score out of 10 follows set bands: 7 to 8.5 means most requirements are strongly evidenced, and 9 or more is rare. A true 6 is more useful than a flattering 8.

Does a job title or a skill on my resume count as evidence?

No. A job title, a tool in a skills list, a course or a general duty does not prove specific work. A requirement is met by a fact that shows the work itself, a certification only by that certification and a degree only by that degree.

Can I paste a LinkedIn or Greenhouse link?

Yes. Prept tries the cleanest source first: a job board’s own feed for LinkedIn, Greenhouse and Lever, then the structured data most boards publish, then the page text. If a board blocks the request or returns a sign-in page, it says so and asks you to paste the text instead.

Will it guess the salary or the work mode?

No. Salary is shown only when the posting gives a figure or range, and is never estimated. Work mode is shown with the phrase that states it, and a city in the header does not count as on-site.

What if the check misses something I have done?

Every row that is not fully evidenced has an “I can evidence this” button. Describe what you did in your own words, add a figure if you have one, pick the employer, and it is saved as a fact for this posting and every one after it. Then re-check the fit once.

Does checking the same posting again cost more?

No. A posting is counted once, however you come back to it: pasted twice, checked before and after you save the application, refreshed, or added to. The free plan checks one posting, and Search checks 300 a month.
