How the optimizer works.
What does it change?
It checks every line of your experience against the job and says what is wrong with each: no result, vague, the result buried, or strong already. It rewrites the three lines that matter most, free, to lead with what you achieved, in the job's words where they are true, and asks for the figure only you know instead of guessing it. In a free account Prept asks you those questions and rewrites every line, with a summary, into a resume you can send.
Will it make things up?
It is not allowed to, and every line is checked before you see it. A rewrite must start from a line that is really in your resume; it must keep every number and counted thing in that line; it may not add a requirement your resume does not show, or even part of one; and it may add only a few new words. Anything that fails is dropped rather than shown. That is why you sometimes get fewer than three.
Why are some requirements listed as missing?
Because your resume does not show them. We never write them in for you. If you have done the work, add it in your own words; if you have not, a recruiter will ask, and the answer has to be yours.
Do you keep my resume?
Yes, so you can pick up where you left off: your resume, the job description and the result are kept on our server until you ask us to delete them. Every result has a "Delete my resume now" link, or email hello@prept.fyi. If you create an account, your resume and the job come with you. Their text is sent to Google's Gemini to write the rewrites; Google does not use it to improve its products.
How is this different from the ATS checker?
The free ATS checker tells you whether a tracking system can read your file and what to fix before you send it. The optimizer rewrites the lines themselves for one job. Use both.
