Kickresume's column comes from its pricing page, its resume tailoring page and its ATS Resume Checker page. Prept's column comes from Prept's pricing page. Both were read on October 24, 2026.
What does Kickresume cost compared with Prept?
Kickresume's pricing page, checked October 24, 2026, lists three Premium plans: $24 a month on monthly billing, $18 a month on the quarterly plan ($54 every 3 months) and $8 a month on the yearly plan ($96 every 12 months). Prept's Search plan is $29 a month or $69 a quarter, which works out to $23 a month.
The $8 figure is real, but it's a yearly commitment paid up front. You pay $96 on day one. If you find a job in month two, you've paid for ten more months, although Kickresume does list a "14-day money back guarantee" on all three plans. Prept's 14-day refund applies only if you haven't used the paid features.
Across three months, Kickresume's quarterly plan costs $54 and Prept's costs $69, a $15 gap. Across one month, Kickresume costs $24 and Prept $29. On the yearly plan, Kickresume costs $96 for twelve months, a price Prept doesn't offer at all, since its longest billing period is a quarter.
Kickresume also sells human proofreading at $30 a resume, in English and Spanish, ready "in two work days (or less)." Its page says students can get Premium free with ISIC, ITIC or UNiDAYS. Prept has no student plan, and its free tier covers one of everything with no card.
What does Kickresume do well?
Kickresume does design and volume well. Its pricing page lists 40+ resume templates, 40+ matching cover letter templates and "1,000,000 Possible Design Combinations" of colors, fonts and formatting. Premium includes iOS and Android apps and 7 personal website templates. Those are things Prept doesn't make at all.
The free plan is usable on its own. It gives 4 basic resume templates, 4 matching cover letter templates, 20,000 pre-written phrases and unlimited downloads. The pricing FAQ says "Kickresume is free as long as you don't select paid customization options," so you can build and send a plain resume for nothing.
Its tailoring tool shows some care about accuracy. The tailoring page offers three levels: Conservative, which "Sticks close to your own words. Doesn't invent or oversell," then Balanced, then Turbo, which it describes as "Bold" with the warning "Double-check before sending." That warning is fair, and you should take it literally.
How is Prept's tailoring different from Kickresume's?
Kickresume tailors by rewriting your resume toward the job post, with a dial for how far to push. Prept starts one step earlier: it reads your resume into facts you confirm, each figure with what it measured and where it came from, then writes the tailored resume from those facts alone. There is no bold setting.
That difference shows up in the interview. Any figure on your resume can come back as a question, and a line written on Turbo is a line you'll have to defend in your own words. Prept's rule is that numbers you can't stand behind are left off rather than invented, and gaps between you and the posting are shown, not covered.
The reasons AI tools add figures nobody gave them are laid out in why AI resume tools invent numbers. Whichever tool you use, check each tailored line against what you could explain to a hiring manager.
Prept is narrower in what it covers. It has no templates gallery, no cover letters, no job board, no mobile app and no human proofreading. If you need those, Kickresume covers them.
Who should stay on Kickresume?
Stay on Kickresume if you're a student with ISIC, ITIC or UNiDAYS and get Premium free, or if you've already paid for the yearly plan. Stay if you need cover letters, a personal website or a mobile app. And stay if the free plan's 4 templates already give you a resume that gets interviews.
The yearly plan suits a long search or someone who applies on and off through the year. At $8 a month it costs less than any Prept plan, and it includes everything on the Premium list. For a resume that mainly needs to look good and be sent often, that's good value.
Prept fits a different problem. If you're getting interviews and not offers, or you've been asked about a resume figure you couldn't explain, a better template won't fix that. The free tier includes one interview hour transcribed and debriefed, and the 10-minute debrief template works without any tool.
Does Kickresume help with interviews?
Kickresume helps before the interview with an AI job interview questions generator. It builds likely questions from your resume or target role, with sample answers, plus questions you can ask. Prept helps after: it debriefs a round you recorded with everyone's consent and quotes the moment you lost the room.
A generated sample answer is a starting point. If you adapt one, make it match what you actually did, because you may tell the same story to three interviewers. Did my story change between interviews gives a five-item check for keeping the details steady.
Prept has no mock interviews and gives no help during a call. For the debrief, ask to record your interview at the start and accept a no if that's the answer.
How does Kickresume compare with other resume tools?
Kickresume sits with the design-led builders, where templates and cover letters are the main product. Each sibling comparison uses the same 11 rows and prices checked October 24, 2026, so you can line the builders up directly. The closest matches are Enhancv, Resume.io and Zety, which also sell templates.
Prept vs Enhancv covers a builder with 90+ templates and Pro from $39 a month. Prept vs Resume.io and Zety covers two more template-led builders. Prept vs Careerflow covers a tool built around LinkedIn and weekly billing.
Which should you pick, Kickresume or Prept?
Pick Kickresume if you want designed templates, matching cover letters and a mobile app at a low yearly price, especially as a student. Pick Prept if your resume needs figures you can defend out loud, or if you're getting interviews and losing them. The two don't overlap much, so using both is reasonable.
Start on the free plans. Kickresume's free plan has no time limit and lets you download as often as you like. Prept's free tier includes one posting checked, one application tailored and one interview hour debriefed. You can get your first interview debrief free and decide after your next round.
