What is LockedIn AI and what does it do?

LockedIn AI is a copilot that listens to a live interview and shows you answers as the questions come. Its homepage, checked October 24, 2026, promises "Answers while they are still asking." It sells mock interviews, a human helper service called Duo, and free resume, LinkedIn and job tracking tools.

The LockedIn AI homepage calls its main feature "dual-layer AI." One layer "Shows a personalized answer based on your resume and job description." The other, Speech Reflection, "Flags vague, rushed or filler words while you're still talking." It runs as a desktop app, in the browser and on a new mobile app.

There's more around the copilot than most live-help tools offer. The homepage lists a Resume Builder, a Resume Checker, a LinkedIn Profile Optimizer, a cover letter generator and a Job Tracker. It also offers an MCP server so you can use LockedIn inside Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. Prept has no MCP or AI-client integration.

How do LockedIn AI and Prept compare feature by feature?

LockedIn AI covers more ground: live help, mock interviews, an AI-client connection and a set of free career tools. Prept covers less, and covers it after the call. It reviews and tailors resumes, checks a posting's fit and debriefs a round you recorded with consent. The table uses each product's own pages, checked October 24, 2026.

LockedIn AI's free tools and tracker are real strengths, and Prept has no standalone tracker. For deeper comparisons on those, see Prept vs Teal for job tracking and Prept vs Jobscan for ATS scoring. Neither of those tools gives live help.

How much does LockedIn AI cost compared with Prept?

LockedIn AI's pricing page, checked October 24, 2026, lists the Unlimited plan at $54.99 a month billed monthly, or $39.99 a month billed every 3 months. It shows a crossed-out "standard" price of $109.98 next to both. Prept's Search plan costs $29 a month or $69 a quarter.

The LockedIn AI pricing page names three plan types: Unlimited, Credits and Lifetime. Only the Unlimited prices appeared when the page was loaded on October 24, 2026. The Credits and Lifetime tabs showed no figures, so this review doesn't quote them. The quarterly Unlimited plan comes to $119.97 every 3 months.

The pricing page carries a "Money-back guarantee" badge. The LockedIn AI refund policy, last updated October 14, 2026, says monthly and quarterly subscriptions are "Non-refundable once started." Annual plans can get "a partial refund if canceled within 7 days," and Lifetime plans are refundable within 7 days only if no session has started.

Prept's pricing page gives Search 7 days free with a card, and nothing is charged until day 8. If you haven't used the paid features, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days. Search covers 40 tailored applications, 8 interview hours and 300 postings checked a month.

What does LockedIn AI say about being detected?

LockedIn AI's desktop app page, checked October 24, 2026, is titled "Invisible AI Interview Assistant" and says the copilot "never shows up on anyone else's screen." Its homepage says "Undetectable" and "Tested daily." This review did not test those claims. They're the company's own words about its own product.

An older page on the same site reads differently. LockedIn AI's ethics page, dated October 10, 2024, says the company uses "sophisticated algorithms capable of detecting and preventing the unethical use of our technology." The page doesn't say what counts as unethical use. What interviewers can and can't see is covered, with sources, in can interviewers detect AI copilots.

The LockedIn AI desktop app page also promotes Duo. The LockedIn Duo page says Duo "streams a user's screen and live audio to a trusted helper," who sends guidance back "while staying completely outside the call." That puts a second person in the interview whom the interviewer doesn't know about.

Do employers allow live AI help like LockedIn AI?

The employers that publish a rule say no, unless they tell you otherwise. Anthropic, Greenhouse and Deloitte UK all keep AI out of the live interview, on pages checked October 24, 2026. All three welcome AI for preparation. Greenhouse and Deloitte UK say breaking the rule can end your candidacy.

Anthropic's guidance on candidates' AI usage says of live interviews: "This is all you" and "no AI assistance unless we indicate otherwise." It invites you to "use Claude to research Anthropic, practice your answers, and prepare questions for us" before the interview. A mock interview fits on that allowed side.

Greenhouse's AI guidelines ask you to "not use AI to supplement your performance in a live interview unless otherwise instructed or agreed upon." They ask you to interview "without reading from or referencing AI-produced answers." If Greenhouse detects that without permission, "your candidacy may be disqualified."

Deloitte UK's integrity guidance says interviews "must be completed without AI assistance," in person or virtual. It also says "Using answers in our assessments or interviews from any third parties" breaches its rules. That covers a human helper too. A breach means "you will be removed from the selection process." More employers are in employer policies on AI in interviews.

How is LockedIn AI's session report different from Prept's debrief?

LockedIn AI keeps a transcript, a summary and a generated report for each session it ran, live or mock. Prept writes its debrief from a real interview you recorded with consent and did on your own. It quotes the moment you lost the room and gives you words to say instead.

The LockedIn AI support page says "No audio or video file is kept." Each session is saved "with a transcript of what was said, a summary, and a generated report." It also says the desktop app asks you to confirm "you have consent to record and transcribe before a live session starts." That consent step is a good practice, and Prept asks for the same confirmation.

The difference is whose answers get reviewed. A report on a live session where the copilot suggested answers grades a mix of you and the tool. A debrief of a round you did alone tells you what to fix next time. The free 10-minute debrief template gets you most of the way from memory, at no cost.

When is LockedIn AI the better choice?

Pick LockedIn AI if you want mock interviews with a speech coach, free career tools in one place, or an MCP connection to the AI you already use. It's also the better choice when an employer has said AI is allowed in a round. Prept has no practice mode, no tracker and no live help.

The free plan is generous for trying mock interviews: unlimited 5-minute sessions, up to 60 minutes a day, according to its support page. Use them as rehearsal, then give the answers without the tool. If an employer hasn't published a policy, ask the recruiter in writing before you use any AI in a round.

For other live-help tools, Prept vs Final Round AI covers the closest rival, and Final Round AI alternatives lists more options. Practice-only tools without a live mode are compared in Prept vs Big Interview.

When is Prept the better choice?

Pick Prept if the problem is your resume, your applications or a round you've already done. It reviews your resume with an ATS score and tailors it to each posting, checking every claim against facts you confirmed. It also scores a posting's fit and debriefs an interview you recorded with consent.

Prept's line is analysis after the call, never during it. Before every recording it asks you to confirm that everyone on the call knows they're being recorded. The audio is deleted once the transcript is written. The free tier includes one interview hour, so you can get your first interview debrief without a card.

If you're unsure where preparation ends and cheating starts, is using AI in a job interview cheating sets out the line. AI interview help that isn't cheating applies it to real uses, and what happens if you're caught using an AI copilot covers documented cases.
