What does each AI interview tool actually do?
Each tool does one of three jobs: live help during the call, practice before it, or analysis after it. The table sorts 14 tools by that job. It gives the lowest paid price and free tier from each tool's own pricing page, checked October 22, 2026. The last column quotes what each says about detection or employer rules.
| Tool | What it does | Lowest paid price (USD) | Free tier | Its own words on detection or employer rules |

Prices are in US dollars. Some pages change the currency by location. When this guide was checked, Verve AI's page displayed Canadian dollars, so its row uses the US dollar prices listed in the page's own plan data. Prices and plans change often, so check the page again before you pay.
How were these 14 tools chosen and checked?
The list covers the tools a job seeker is likely to meet: live copilots, practice platforms and a tool for after the call, plus two resume tools with interview features. Every price comes from the vendor's own page on October 22, 2026. Where a page showed no price, the tool was left out.
Two tools were swapped out for that reason. LockedIn AI's pricing page named its plans (Unlimited, Credits and Lifetime) but showed no figures when it was loaded on October 22, 2026. Google's Interview Warmup address now redirects to a general interview tips article, so that free tool appears to be gone.
None of the vendors' detection claims were tested for this guide. The quotes in the last column are what each company says about itself, nothing more. What an interviewer can and can't spot is covered, with sources, in can interviewers detect AI copilots.
Which AI interview tools give live help during the call?
Five tools in the table give live help: Final Round AI, Interview Coder, Cluely, Verve AI and Parakeet AI. Each one runs on your computer while the call is happening and suggests what to say. All five say on their own pages, checked October 22, 2026, that their window stays hidden when you share your screen.
Final Round AI's homepage describes its Stealth Mode as "100% invisible" and "100% undetectable" in its Stealth Mode section. Its FAQ is more careful, saying Stealth Mode is "designed to keep Final Round AI's private guidance windows out of supported screen shares and recordings" in the desktop app. The same Pro plan includes practice interviews and "Automatic AI debriefs," and those parts are useful on their own.
Interview Coder sells mainly to software engineers facing coding rounds. Its homepage says the app is tested daily "against every single interview software for 100% undetectability," a claim this guide did not test. At $299 a month it's the most expensive tool in the table, and the free download has no AI features.
Cluely's pricing page talks about meetings, homework and sales calls rather than job interviews, and calls the product "Meeting AI that helps during the call" in its closing line. Hiding from screen share is a separate plan, Pro + Undetectability, at $149.99 a month. For sales calls or internal meetings where AI notes are allowed, it's a reasonable notetaker.
Verve AI's pricing page says its desktop app "stays undetectable during screen sharing and remains visible only to you" in its plan table. Parakeet AI's page describes the product as "Completely undetectable, completely yours" in its features list. Both also sell AI mock interviews, and both offer a free taste: three 15-minute sessions on Verve AI, and a 10-minute session plus a free first mock on Parakeet AI.
Where are these tools useful? In practice mode. A mock interview where the tool suggests a stronger answer can teach you something, as long as you then give the answer without it. In a real interview, the employer policies below set the default: no AI unless they say otherwise.
What do employers say about AI during a live interview?
The employers that publish a rule draw the same line: use AI to prepare, and keep it out of the live interview unless they say you can use it. Anthropic, Greenhouse and Code.org all say so on their own careers pages, checked October 22, 2026. Greenhouse and Code.org also say that breaking the rule can end your candidacy.
Anthropic's guidance on candidates' AI usage invites you to "use Claude to research Anthropic, practice your answers, and prepare questions for us" before the interview. For live interviews it asks for "no AI assistance unless we indicate otherwise" in the same guidance. It also says it will be clear when AI is allowed, giving the example "You may use Claude for this coding challenge" as one case.
Greenhouse's AI guidelines ask candidates to "not use AI to supplement your performance in a live interview unless otherwise instructed or agreed upon" by Greenhouse. If AI is used outside its rules without disclosure, the company says "your candidacy may be disqualified" at any stage. It encourages AI for preparation, alongside research and your own network.
Code.org's AI use policy welcomes AI to "Prepare for interviews through mock questions and research" as a candidate. It asks candidates not to "Use AI during interviews and take-home assignments without explicit consent from the interview team" and warns of disqualification. More employers are collected in employer policies on AI in interviews, and documented cases are in what happens if you're caught using an AI copilot.
Which tools help you practice before the interview?
Six tools in the table are built for practice: Big Interview, Yoodli, Huru, interviewing.io, Aced (formerly Exponent) and Hello Interview. None of their pricing pages says anything about detection, because they're meant for the days before the call. They differ mainly on price and on who they're built for.
Huru is the easy first stop if money is tight. Its page says every feature is free for job seekers, including a live AI interviewer that asks follow-up questions. Each answer is scored on relevance, structure, specificity, impact and articulation, so you can see whether a new version of an answer is better.
Yoodli suits people who want to practice speaking in general as well as interviewing. The free Starter plan gives you up to five roleplays in total, and Pro is $8 a month billed annually. It also gives feedback on recordings you upload, which makes it useful after a practice round too.
Big Interview is a course with practice built in. It sells a 30-day subscription for $39, three months for $99 and lifetime access for $299, with a 100% refund if you don't see results within 30 days. It suits someone who wants a structured program more than a question bank.
For software and product roles, three tools go deeper. The FAQ at interviewing.io says its AI interviewer for coding and system design is free, and that mocks with human engineers "start at $179" each. Pramp's peer mocks now run on Aced, which offers 5 peer mocks a month free. Hello Interview focuses on system design, with Premium from $47 for a month.
Which tools help after the interview?
Three tools in the table look back at an interview once it's over. Final Round AI's Pro plan includes automatic AI debriefs. Yoodli gives feedback on recordings you upload. Prept transcribes an interview you recorded with everyone's consent and writes a debrief that quotes the moment you lost the room and gives you words to say instead.
Prept's line is analysis after the call, never during it: it gives no live help, and before every recording it asks you to confirm that everyone on the call knows they're being recorded. The audio is deleted once the transcript is written. The free tier includes one interview hour, so you can get your first interview debrief on your next round.
You don't need any tool for this step. The free 10-minute debrief template works from memory, and what an interview debrief is explains the method. If you'd like a recording, ask to record your interview at the start of the call.
Where do resume tools like Teal and Careerflow fit?
Teal and Careerflow sit before the interview, on the application side. Teal's paid plan, Teal+, costs $13 every 7 days, and the features it lists are resume and job tracking tools. Careerflow's Premium Plus plan, from $19.99 a week, adds an AI mock interview and interview analysis to its resume and LinkedIn tools.
Both have free plans, and both suit someone whose problem is getting interviews more than passing them. Weekly prices add up: Teal's pricing page lists 30 days for $29, and Careerflow's Premium page lists Premium at $23.99 on monthly billing. Whichever resume tool you use, check every figure it writes, for the reasons in why AI resume tools invent numbers.
Which AI interview tool should you pick?
Pick by the job you need done and the rules of the company you're interviewing with. For practice, start free with Huru or Yoodli, and add interviewing.io, Aced or Hello Interview for technical rounds. For a review after the round, use a debrief. For live help, read the employer's rules before you buy anything.
A live copilot is the better choice in one case: the employer has said AI is allowed in that round, as Anthropic's guidance says it will for some coding challenges. Then the hidden window doesn't matter, because you're using the tool in the open. For the line between preparation and cheating, see is using AI in a job interview cheating.
AI interview help that isn't cheating applies the same test to specific uses. If you used AI only to prepare, whether to tell the interviewer you used AI covers what to say if it comes up.
What should you check before paying for an AI interview tool?
Check four things on the pricing page itself: the billing period, the currency, what the free tier leaves out and how to cancel. Several tools here bill weekly or show a monthly figure that only applies to annual billing. The same plan can show a different currency depending on where you load the page.
Some examples from October 22, 2026. Yoodli's $8 a month is billed annually, and Aced's $12 a month is the annual rate. Cluely's page title advertises Pro "from $11.99/mo," while the monthly price shown is $19.99. Final Round AI lists Pro as "$25+/mo" and says "There is no free trial" for live sessions.
Free tiers vary even more. Huru's covers every feature for job seekers, while Interview Coder's covers a download and no AI. If a tool's free tier is enough to answer your question, stay on it until you know you need more.
